April 2009 Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the meeting of the 25th March 2009 were read and signed as a true record. Proposed by Jack Kershaw and seconded by Kebir Berry.

Correspondence
•    Ex-Treasurer Gary Lee had made contact with the executive team and stated he intended to return the missing accounts, however despite visits by the chair to his home address to retrieve them; we have not yet had them returned.
•    Councillors were approached as requested by delegates to establish contact options, this was done and the exec decided that it would be best to publish all Pontefract Councillors contact and surgery/ forum details on the PCP website.

Matters Arising
•    South Ward Councillors were contacted by the exec as a request from the AOB item in the last meeting regarding the status of the community chest fund, the PCP Secretary mailed all PCP delegates to offer anyone who had raised an issues or was confused to contact the exec where Cllr Crowther had agreed to answer any queries on the subject. However there were no responses.
•    Ken Willoughby was presented with a letter of support from the PCP for the ‘Apollo 13’ group

•    The group have received a grant of £250 from B&Q for their launch party

•    If anyone wants a course to run and can get 10 people interested she will do her best to arrange it.  Non accredited courses too.
•    Awareness that learners on means tested benefits could qualify for fee remission.
•    A new programme will be launched at targeting unemployment.

•    The path on Broadway has been completed and after some interaction with the highways, in the correct place.

Pontefract Forward

•    The removal of the hump on the field is in hand.
•    The questionnaires were gathered in and the data collated and a document made to present the data.

•    The group held an emergency general meeting to elect a new committee.

W.Y. Astronomical Society
•    International year of astronomy and the planetarium are holding fun days on the 9th & 10th May 2009, and are having a week of open nights – Mon –Fri.  7.30pm- 10pm.
•    Tickets are on sale for the next astronought event in October with Jim Lovell, the group are also seeking finance for the event.

•    The group meets again on Weds 6th May

Groundwork Wakefield

 AOB

•    Trish Hollies reported on the Amalgamation of the Chequerfield and Willow Park schools.
      Feasibility studies have been produced and presented to governors.
      The options are being explored and considered as is the feedback from the consultations.
•    A report was given as to the status of the rebuild of the main building at Carleton High.
•    Reg reported that the Pontefract Radio Club received an award for the best national club from the Radio Society of Great Britain.  WELL DONE REG & TEAM!!!
